The Parish Religious Education Program (PREP) at St. Luke’s is here to help our children build the foundation for a life-long journey of growing and living in faith as disciples of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Our classes are taught by volunteer catechists under the direction of the coordinator and pastor and in keeping with the mandate and learning outcomes of the Office of Religious Education (ORE), Archdiocese of Vancouver. Our catechists receive training and are encouraged to continue their own faith journey through prayer and attendance at various workshops offered by the Archdiocese throughout the year.
At St. Luke’s we use the Alive in Christ program and publications.
As part of our program, we invite our families to be active participants in their child’s faith journey. PREP Masses, celebrations, service opportunities such as visiting the Poor Clare Sisters in Mission, providing donations to the Holy Childhood Association and mite box collections during Lent, are but a few of the opportunities to grow in faith and build a strong parish community.
If you would enjoy a greater involvement, please consider volunteering to assist with delivery of our PREP program as a catechist or assistant, or with PREP Patrol. More volunteers are always needed and training and ongoing support is provided. Please call the parish office for more information. Please note that Vancouver Archdiocesan regulations require that all volunteers be screened and undergo a criminal records check.
We offer classes from Kindergarten to Grade 12. Classes are in session from September to the end of May each year.
Wednesday 3:45 – 5:15 pm
Wednesday 6:30 – 8:00 pm
PREP is a comprehensive program of faith formation. Each PREP year builds on the previous year. Each and every grade is important. Students who enroll in the program are expected to fully participate at all grade levels.
Students who are being initiated into the Catholic Faith will attend the Rite of Christian Initiation for Children (RCIC) for one year before placement at their grade level. Students who miss a year of PREP will need to repeat the missed year. If your child misses 2 or more years, they must attend the RCIC before being placed at an appropriate grade level
Registration forms are available in the vestibule of the church and the parish office. Forms may also be printed from the links below. Please return your registration forms, fees, and baptismal certificate (new students), as soon as possible to the parish office. Registrations are considered complete once the above items have been submitted.
