The Society of St Vincent de Paul is an international Christian society, founded in the Catholic Church in France by Blessed Frederick Ozanam to seek out and assist the poor. Our call is to “Go Out the Poor” to support and assist them in their physical, spiritual, or social needs. No work of Christian charity is beyond the scope of the society.
In our parish conference, our major requests have been for food supplies plus spiritual and social support. Over the past 16 years, we have been blessed with being able to supply generous food hampers for 40 to 50 families twice a month. However, due to the loss of our major donour, we have had to cut down on the number of hampers we can supply.
However, thanks to the very generous increase in support of the parishioners and friends of St. Luke’s, we are able to provide very meaningful help on a monthly basis for 12 to 15 of our most needy families. Also, thanks to the amazing response from our parishioners and friends, we have been able to provide beautiful Christmas hampers, including turkeys and toys, for about 30 needy families.
